I have one that did this. I let it continue to grow for a year or so. The baby grew a few small roots and sent up a small spike right along with the mother plants 2 spikes. I pulled the baby off the mother plant and potted it up. Now the baby's root growth has stalled. I think I might cut the spike off because it is not gonna make it anyway. Mother has continued to grow and bloom.

Happy Phals normally offset like this when they get bigger and older. The plants will be bigger and flower more if you don't chop them up.

My mother plant has stalled. I'm not doing anything...until my hand is forced.
