Hello everyone,
I have a question. Since 3 years I have a really pretty Doritaenopsis Purple gem Aida, it's a very easy plant to take care of, just requires a bit more water than standard phal hybrids.
Anyway, about 3 weeks ago started to develop a basal keiki, and until now also started to work on a spike and roots from the tiny keiki, and roots+spike+leaf from the mother plant.
Now, should I provide anything extra to help her?
I water with tap water cause I just can't maintain a fertilizing regime, but I might do an exception for her

Orchids in general don't need much fertilizer to do well, and your healthy vigorous plant is a demonstration of this. It would probably do even better with a little fertilizer though. Some people enjoy trying to perfect a fertilizer regimen and take time for it but many don't. You may get some very specific complicated suggestions, but it just isn't necessary.

I'm not familiar with products sold in Europe but you should be able find some kind of slow release (controlled release, time release) fertilizer. This would let you add some fertilizer to each pot every few months and forget about it the rest of the time. Every time you water a small amount of fertilizer will be released, and your orchids will do even better. Look for a product that includes micronutrients. That is the simplest regimen and very effective.

I have some of these. This is how the species plant spreads itself out. I would leave it there until it gets alittle bigger, or just leave them together.

Thank you all for your contributions.
Yes, to be honest, I've never felt that my plants needed fertilizer, they do well with tap water, and a very thorough and generous flush with distilled water as often as I can, because the water here is extremely hard and burns the roots quite badly.
I was just thinking that since this plant is growing everything at the same time, she might need a little push. I think I will see how it goes and adjust accordingly.
The mother plant is healthy and has tons of roots so I am not planning on separating the keiki, I like the idea of bushy plant
