Phalaenopsis Art Quest 'Karyn Celeste' HCC/AOS
Default Phalaenopsis Art Quest 'Karyn Celeste' HCC/AOS

Hey everyone,
I just got a Phal labeled "Art Quest 'Karyn Celeste' HCC/AOS" which supposedly has white flowers with an orange lip. The weird thing is that I can only find one reference to it, from this website:
The Hackneaus gallery of Phalaenopsis orchid photos

Searching just for "art quest" I was able to find this entry:
http://bluenanta.com/natural/100124687/hybrid_detail/

If it really is an awarded variety I'd think there would be multiple pictures online. Has anyone ever heard of it?

Here is the picture:

If it's been awarded then there is a record of it. That the plant's award is supposedly from the American Orchid Society that would be where I'd start. I did a quick Google search and found both mention and also a photo of the plant in a Newsletter of the Triangle Orchid Society (North Carolina, USA). The plant is listed/named exactly as is yours and the flowers in the photo are also a match. Seems legit, if that was your concern.

At least equally, though, it's a really nice Phal. I love the contrasting colors from the lip to the petals/sepals.

Thanks everyone. I normally don't care for phalaenopsis, but this was quite the find! The picture is not mine, it is from the Hackneu website I mentioned in my original post.

I actually bought it online and it came in yesterday. It had just one old faded flower, but there's a new spike on its way.

Even the old flower looks quite unique with the bright lip. It is not as orange as it appears in this picture, but maybe that's because the flower was already spent.

Once it blooms I'll post new pictures.

Hello, did you ever get updated photos? I would love to find this plan t one day. Orange and white is such a stunning contrast.

Hopefully your plant is still thriving in 2024.
