Phal. Baldan's Kaleidoscope, possibly, the name doesn't really matter
Anyway,
So picture this,
Manhattan on a Friday night, I am leaving a play (Little Shop of Horrors) with my wife and daughter. We go get a pizza and then walking back to the car we pass a florist shop. I quickly see that it is not the run of the mill flower shop that just sells cut flowers. I suddenly see that they have tons of blooming Phals on the window display, and in the corner I see a familiar Phal. It looked just like the Baldan's Kaleidoscope I had many years back. One time while it was in bloom I cut the spike off (in full bloom) and used it to propose to my now wife. Don't be so shocked, it worked and she knew how much I loved my orchids so it was meaningful.
Anyway, from that day onwards, that Phal was our Phal. I was very disappointed when it died of course and kept my eye open for another. So of course I had to ask the price of the one I saw in the shop. I expected him to horrify me with a price above $50. He said, "I sell it for $75, . But I the blooms are old and I will sell it to your for $25. SOLD!!!! I took it home and here it is, in my home for over 1 week now.
