At the orchid show yesterday, I got a dips chain xen momo. I can't find any info on it. Is it a primary hybrid or a complex hybrid? Is there a way to tell based on looking at it? Does anyone know this flower or at least something about chain xen?
I believe that is an hybrid. Usually, when growing species, the range of the environmental parameters (temp, humidity, etc) is narrower.
Hybrids deal not only with the beauty of the flower. The growers who create them also want to "create" plants more resistant to conditions outside of their normal habitat in the wild for comercial purposes.
I would treat it as any other phal hybrid.
But let's see what other have to say.
Neither Chain Xen Momo or Chian Xen Momo is a registered hybrid name, but this is clearly a typical complex hybrid Dtps. (Phal.). The 2 photos here could certainly be the same cross.
Since 2 people posted using the name with Momo, I don't think we assume that it should be Mammon. There are dozens of Chian Xen crosses, and there could easily be several with this type of pattern. I think it is best to assume CX Momo is an unregistered cross.
