Default Jelly Belly

Another corningiana hybrid. Slight fragrance. Large blooms. Massive leafspan at 18-24 inches.

So beautiful! Do you know the parents? Maybe Lueddemanniana because of the color pattern...

Lydia Tobia x corningiana

(50% corningiana, 25% bellina, 12.5% amabilis, 12.5% amboinensis)

If this was from Orchids Limited, the corningiana was the 'Fernbrook' AM/AOS clone.

This cross is as listed above. It is spiking again, so blooms 2x per year. Ideally it should be hanging but I don't have the space/greenhouse. The leaves are draped on a rack.

I have a plant from that cross which is mature with about 14 leaves, but for some reason, it hasn't bloomed for me, although all of my other mature Phals do spike. Can you tell what triggers spiking for you? I take all Phals through an 11 hour daylength "winter" with 55 F degree night/ 65-70 F degree day temperature period. Summer period is then 13.5 hour day length and 70 F degree night and 84 F degree day. Jerry Fischer doesn't really know what I could do differently either. Maybe just reluctant genes in my clone. My vernalization period will be done in another few weeks. Maybe this "spring" or "summer" in my plant room will see a spike.

Also, how many flowers do you get on a spike?
