I have a phalaenopsis that currently has 24 flowers and 19 buds.
The most recent buds to open are a little smaller than the others. I want all the buds open before the older flowers drop off and all flowers reasonably uniform in size. I'm thinking a little extra fertilizer might help.
I think this is a natural behaviour for plants. If all flowers were blooming at the same time, the plant would consume lots of resources, probably more than available. By other hand, the time period with opened flowers would be reduced, hence the probability of polinization would be reduced.
I would leave it alone. Remember the story of the chicken with the golden eggs.
