6 Hours ago I watered my Phal like per usual and I have come home from work to discover all the leaves are starting to droop.
6 hours ago all the leaves were stiff and a new leaf was growing and now the orchid is limp on every single leaf.
There is stiffness towards the older leaves, but the most affected were the newest leaf (growing) which seems to be wrinkled on the outer part of the leaf and the oldest bottom leaf.
There are veins visible on many of the leaves.. but dehydration is not the issue as the roots are in excellent condition.
I suspect heat stress as there was a period of time where sun was directly touching the plant. I have had this orchid all throughout on this window since day 1 two years ago, and today I discover the leaves are wrinkling.
The root system is in great condition, with many growing tips and branches off older roots.
It could have been cooked. It is not a good idea to subject Phals to any direct sunshine whatsoever, except in places much farther from the equator than all of Australia.
But most phals are killed by overwatering. Read the thread above and you better be able to figure out what happened.
