Default Phalaenopsis not flowering

, I am somewhat new, I have 6 orchids, and have not fussed much to get them to flower, they are on a southwest windowsill in my kitchen/family room. I do have a small Phalaenopsis, in a tiny clear glass fish bowl type vase (purchased at grocery store in vase). When I purchased it had two flower spikes (June 2014). It seems to be very healthy, but is producing leaves like crazy. No flower spike yet, I have it on my desk in the office, and it does get some natural light but no direct sunlight.

Probably too little light and/or too stable of a temperature in an office environment.

How far is the plant from the window? The eye may perceive it as sufficient, but the eye adjusts really well.

Many phalaenopsis require a week or two of a reduction in average growing temperature of about 10°-15° in order to initiate a flower spike.

Most phal hybrids sold in bloom are temperature manipulated to be in the market unless they are sold in bloom in winter or spring time, although there are some that flower in the summer or just whenever.

The fact that it is growing like crazy (as you say) is a great thing because it is warm now and it should be growing leaves. These should grow 2-3 leaves a year.
Phals must never be sit in the direct sun and from your description it is getting enough light. southwest with no direct sun.

As long as the leaves stay relatively low and flat, they are getting enough light.

I bet yours will bloom later this year.
For vast majority of commonly sold phal hybrids are winter/spring bloomers.

Happy growing!

Thank you for the quick response, the orchid is about 6 feet from the office door, no direct sunlight, started with 2 flower spikes, and 4 leaves, a year later it now has 8 leaves, growing very fast.

Thank you, since the plant looks so healthy, I think I just may give it time, I may move it closer to the window, giving it a little more light.
