I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're asking.. Are you asking about terminal spiking? (When the plant spikes from the center)
In which case yes, the plant will not rebloom or grow new leaves, but it can (and hopefully will) produce a keiki, in which case you'll have your flowers back once it grows up.

I was reading that an orchid may not bloom if the spike didn't originate from the right place. Being a bit new to orchid culture I had never seen a spike eminate from any other spot than outward from the main growth of the plant. Apparently there is another place from which the spike can grow. Can you explain " Terminal Spiking" a bit further?
