Default nice harlequin phal bargain

go this nice harlequin phal for £5 from b&q, there were a couple of other nice ones including a very nice purple one but by the time I'd decided to buy the other as well it'd gone.

only noticed when I got home that this phal has a terminal spike.

did wonder about the leaf on the spike in the shop but didn't have a good look.

otherwise the plant looks in good health.

need some yellow phals though and some more scented ones, dunno where to put them though, will have to buy some more shelving

Wow you got a new baby orchid on it's stem. It's called keikes, I think. That's pretty flower you got.

I can see why you couldn't resist! I've picked up a few of mine from B&Q - or should I say "rescued"? In fact time I paid another visit... I get most of mine from Sainsbury's, where they have varied & very pretty minis for £8 - never had a problem.
When you say 'terminal spike' do you mean an already -bloomed & cut down spike? What media do you use? I buy some in bark & some in sphag, reluctant to repot in bark until blooming's done. Thinking about trying 50/50 to lessen shock. What do you do? Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant.

a terminal spike just means it wont grow anymore leaves from the crown since that flower spike has emerged from there.

it could still get some basal kiekies so not too upset for £5. it has very nice flowers, cant wait to see the pattern variation in them.

Cool, with a nice little keiki on it too.
