New Leaf Growth No Roots
Default New Leaf Growth No Roots

I have this Phal it was on death's door about 2 wks. ago it had lost all it's roots from root rot. I was about to give up on it so I decided to put it in my water culture and noticed a new leaf was growing but still no roots. Is my plant going to die or is it on the way to recovery?

It looks like it's trying to make a new root right at the base of the plant. With a new leaf also growing I think it could make it.

I agree.
Phals store water in their leaves. It is a good thing to see a new leaf; it means it will be able to hold more water.

The other two leaves seem pretty big. So it's likely it will have enough energy to try to put out some new roots. I'd say give it the benefit of the doubt and see what happens the next few weeks. I don't throw anything out unless it's dead and dry.

Thanks everyone for the quick response... I love my orchids and will try anything to make they survive...at closer inspection I think there may be a new root trying to come through it's a bright green spot on the base of the plant.

Do you have it in an actual bottle of water? I have a similar problem with my very first phal so any additional pictures or instructions for how you are saving yours would be appreciated!
