Default Phal buds looking wierd

My new Phal has some buds that are looking really wierd.

The bud in the back right is fine, a normal healthy green. But the three in the foreground have turned an odd pinkish color.
What's going on?

Looks like bud blast. I have that happen from time to time. Lots of things can cause it. Others will no-doubt join in with more specific help.

You said it is a "new" phal. Did you just buy it? Did it have these buds when bought? If so, the new buds probably had trouble adjusting to the new growing conditions. Change in light, temp., humidity...etc. It is one of the hazards when we buy an orchid in bud. But do not worry, the flowers that make it will be around for your enjoyment. Then there is always next time it blooms.

Thanks guys. I've had this plant for at least two weeks now, and the buds weren't like that when I bought it. I probably ought to remove them, right?

Don't fret, they'll just fall off on their own.

Have you put the plant on a windowsill where there is a radiator? I have seen burnt leaf tips and blasted buds from this! Judi
