I bought this in August of '06 and it had 2 spikes on it. I was told by the grower that they would produce vegetation not flowers, so I should cut them off. Well, I couldn't see doing that without seeing first what they were and lo and behold it produced flowers on those spikes and 1 other one that it sent up. Since then it has been in almost constant bloom and now has 7-8 viable spikes on it. The flowers are starting to dwindle, but this flower and one other are brand new!
