I do very little to my phals......I water them when the roots are silver coloured. I give them a little organic seaweed enhancer and they r as happy as Larry :-)
Im in the process at the mo of changing all my phals over to being grown in hydroton clay balls. The phals that I have transferred over are growing roots like mad and looking really happy!! As much as I liked the bark It did have a tendency to promote root rot if I was a bit over zealous with the watering routine.
Will let u know how im getting on with the transfer x
