Yesterday the bud started to open and today it finally opened. This plant bloomed some time ago and I cut back the 2 spikes and now there are new buds on each spike. So knowing these will be smaller and a bit different from the original spike blooms, but still beautiful.

It is adorable. I would love to have my Phals bloom all year round if it can....but of course at some point in time I want to let it grow new roots, new leaves and gather energy for next cycle of blooms that will give bigger flatter and with vivid colors....so I cut the spike after the second set of blooms.

Once this set of buds are done, which will probably last until July, I will cut off both spikes. I have around 50 phals so I typically have 10 or so in full bloom and 10 on bloom #2 and the rest rooting or producing keiki's.
