Why do I keep buying Phals?

Those are gorgeous. The first looks like a Sogo Pearl x Golden Peoker, maybe? I've got 2 seedlings growing now like your first one. The Harlequins are probably my favorite Phals.

I know exactly what you mean. When I first started my collection, the Phal. was the last on my list. Their flowers are undeniably beautiful but my attraction to them was slower than with the others. Now....a completely different story.

Well, Dorothy...

Unfortunately, I went to the Christmas Open Day at my local orchid nursery... and came home with - guess - more Phals!!!

I'm still working on getting photos, and only 1 actually has flowers open, but several are in spike.... Here's the list:

1. Luchia Roseherz x Leopard Prince
2. Golden Peoker 'Nancho' x Martha Dolge 'Mendenhall'
3. Ever Spring Fairy x Leopard Prince 'Sogo'
4. (Auckland Buddha x Salu Princess) X Dou-dii Goddess
5. Black Eagle 'Sentra'
6. Brother Dawn 'Cy'
7. Brother Lancer
8. Sogo Grape

Some are just 2 year old seedlings, some are flowering size (of which quite a few are in spike) and 1 (the Brother Lancer) is a monster size - I've never seen a Phal so big!

Sandy, thanks so much! I'd love to see photos of your seedlings. I think I like the Harlequins best... though I also love the 'sunset' ones...

My reason for staying away from Phals for so long is simply climate - I don't have ideal conditions for them, so they take more work. I'm going to fix that soon!

Shakkai, what lovlies! I have one harlequin phal. I nearly killed it moving it to s/h, but it's recovering nicely growing new leaves and roots. It's a Leopard Prince cross.

Love, love, love the sunset shades too. That one you have is a beauty. Now you just need a blue one! LOL

I'm hoping that my Doritis pulcherrima coerulea var. aquinii will fill that craving... and if not, then the seedling Dtps. Kenneth Schubert x Phal. tetraspis 'C1' may do...
