Default Black spots on phal base

Hi all, I have a phal that's in really bad shape, it arrived from the vendor with most of its roots rotted and now one of the top leaves is turning a bit yellowish. Today I noticed some black spots all around its base and have no idea what they are. (see pictures)

For a second I thought they might be root tips but there are too many, and they're evenly spaced around the base, not to mention black.

I put the plant in sphag-n-bag hoping that it will recover, any ideas what the spots could be?

Thanks in advance!

Looks like a couple of roots started but rotted before they could actually grow. Your plant isn't in a bad shape at all, leaves look firm and from the pix it looks like there is a few nice silver roots. Try repotting it in your favorite Phal. mix and give it time to settle. Choose a smallish pot to fit the roots in and water sparingly. A good drench then wait for the medium to dry out before the next drench. Keep in a slightly warmer spot until roots initiate again. Good luck.
