Talking My surprise flower

I got this plant February 2013 with no flowers. It is a NoID from Lowes. It grew a nice spike this year, and this is the first flower to open. I am really happy with it . The purple is a bit off, in person it is a very dark plum color. And the back of the flower is an intersting green color too. It still has 7 buds as of right now, and one is about ready to open.

Thank you all for the compliments. I think it was a good buy at $3.50 plus a second plant that was in the pot with it, which also has a spike that has not opened any blooms yet!

Nice find, and great price. Such a nice surprise to get such a wonderful color. I have never seen one that color before. I would have thought one that pretty would have sold when it was first in bloom.

I would have thought it would have gone quickly too. I think there was a bad wind storm at the Lowes earlier that day that ripped up all of the flowers on their new stock of Phals. So they had a lot of healthier than normal Phals on discount!!
