2 different colorations on the same inflorescence
Default 2 different colorations on the same inflorescence

These two are on the same inflorescence but the lighter one bloomed earlier. Is this usual? I think this is a Bellina x violacea but am not sure. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Has it been cooler while the second bud/flower developed? It seems that generally colors are darker/more intense when it is cooler for many orchids.

Temperature certainly does play a part in it.

I have a Cattleya with a spike with 4 buds total. Two buds opened as pale yellow with slight pink edging. 3 weeks later the other 2 bloomed a brilliant yellow/orange with fuschia highlights.
We had a warm spell for the first 2 so I'm guessing that's what caused the washed out colors.

Ah that would explain it. It has gotten a lot hotter not cooler though. Much prefer the more intense colour. Downside is all the flowers are not lasting as long in the heat
