Default Do These 'Eyes' Have a Special Name?

This orchid is one of my favorites. It appears to be an art-shade color...a pale yellow diffused with pink, with petals that are frilled and these little (what I call) pucker eyes. Is it a formation that has a name?



I bought this last February at, of all places, Walmart. I've never seen anything like it. It's just rebloomed!

Your flower is showing minimal signs of peloria (or pelorism, if you prefer). That is defined as a plant having symmetry where none is expected - in this case the petals are showing a slight tendency to replicate the column of the lip.

Thank you. I was wondering if it could be peloria, although I am not all that familiar with the term. The photos I've seen of peloric flowers were more extreme than this. I can't help but smile at those little puckery eyes, though, and the color is sublime!

I am constantly amazed at the plants you can sometimes pick up at Wally World. You just have to be there soon after they arrive. I have a stunning rex begonia that started out as a half-dead start:
