my first two (in my current collection) are also walmart plants and they wee in waaay worst shape than yours. thankfully now, they both are on the path of recovery. both ar growing a new leaf and roots. yours will be just fine.

Ice cubes? It must have come from the same advertising company that came up with those betta-fish jars with the plant growing out of the top (you never have to feed them! not withstanding bettas are insectivores and not herbivores) and little bowls and tanks that have pictures of happy goldfish on the box.

OP your phals should be able to be resurrected. Just the right TLC and time should do it. Wallyworld gets some great phals at times. You just need to be there when they first arrive in shipping.

My little rescues are doing great! One of them is growing a side spike off the main spike! The other has nice green root tips coming through! I have all 4 of my Phals in a North facing window that is bright all day thanks to my neighbors bright white house. All are thriving in this window. I plan to re-pot them when their current blooms fall off. When I went to Walmart today they had orchids in the front entrance for $7. I had to look away! I don't have room for any more and I'm a big sucker for sad plants
