Ordphien, your picture of your Phalaenopsis looks exactly my Phal. Kenneth Schubert . It does have a very pleasant fragrance, and when you water the plant it gives off a nice orchid scent. When mine was in bloom, it did smell like breakfast pastry. The scent was more intense in the morning.

I suspect it's Kenneth Schubert too. But it came with no tag so what can you do?

Indeed! Very breakfast pastry in the morning.
Mine remained pretty constant in strength all day, but the scent evolves throughout.
Very morning it smells like cinnamon rolls with a lemon glaze, and furniture polish.
That quickly gives way to just cinnamon rolls. Which eventually fades to fruit loops.

Interestingly the year before I grabbed a "blue" NOID phal from the same garden center and I suspect that one to be Purple Martin.
It's got lemony fragrance, and more pointed petals with a green picotee.

As you can see OP I'm a fan of these crosses. I highly recommend them lol.

There is supposed to be a genetically modified blue Phal that looks somewhat like one of the dyed ones. Google "Japanese blue Phalaenopsis", you will find it.

Reading the E-bay listing, though, this is not what they are offering. Yes, it's clearly a scam, including seed sowing instructions & CYA language so that if they do not grow, there is no refund.

Gotta love this excerpt of their disclaimer:

"Due to weather conditions or improper cultivation technology losses, not negative seed prices outside of economic responsibility."

The rainbow rose is a scream:

Having reported this and other sellers with surprising regularity, either eBay doesn't care or my report alone is I suffice t to get them booted. I've even conversed with a seller on this who tried to explain to me Phals come in all shapes and colors... I had to laugh as they don't come in blue. He didn't seem to appreciate my questions.

While seeing people trying to sell "Phal seeds" like these disheartening. I do find their planting instructions a bit amusing.

My grocery is selling blue phals too! I'd never seen this and didn't know if it was a scam. So, are they just white phals dyed blue? What will happen to them when they rebloom? I'm very new to orchids but have been a serious rose lady

They're injected with blue dye so those first blooms will be blue but all new ones hereafter will be white. They're lovely but not really blue.
