Interesting, I've never heard of peloric petals until now. Strangest thing I had was flowers grow upside down. I think this was caused me moving the plant before the buds opened.
Well I think an update is in order. On that peloric Phal that I asked about it seems that it has continued to bloom and several of the buds opened peloric then as spring approached the later buds are producing normal flowers.. Could it be a change in photoperiod, warmer daytime temps? I don't think it could be warmer nights as my heaters are still maintaining 58-60 notes.
Peloria is often not a stable mutation. That means it could bloom peloric one year, and normal the next. Through line breeding the mutation becomes more stable and the plant is more likely to bloom peloric every time.
I need to upload my pictures and put up my one that I think is peloric. It is a bit different this time. Oh.... it is the one in my avatar. The colors are brighter this time.
Well I don't know, but why not post a picture of before and after?
Attached is a picture. Notice the earlier blooms are peloric and the later blooms appear normal. The first blooms on the spike are the same peloric blooms I posted earlier. This is a Lowes $3.00 plant that had lost all blooms then re bloomed on the same spike.
Well I wish I had a reason for you but I have no idea. I can't think that temp has anything to do with it as my house can get fairly cool at night then if the sun shins during the day it will warm up greatly.
