Default 5 dollar Phal turned out to be a Beauty !

Back in November , found someone who runs a greenhouse and has a rather large orchid collection , He said i could have an orchid that is not in bloom or with a 1 inch spike , to my excitement I grabbed one not knowing its species name or anything , just brought it home and repoted into clear 5" pot and 2 mnths i have flower , quite happy , i think i am doing something right .

What a great deal on such a nice phal!!!

White phal with red lip is among my favorite.
They just look so nice with this color combo I think.

Mine is blooming again. I paid less than $20 three years ago and it has been blooming each winter for me. This time, two spikes. yay!!!

Its quite nice and ads mystery to the growing proccess from watching the stem grow to watching it open to display the colors. evan down to the tiny whiskers on the inner petals is nice to see. This has only been 8 months in the hobby and i am waiting for the next orchid show to come to my town . but i am allways looking for improvements and tips to make it a better display.

I usually buy phals in bloom because I can never get them to bloom at the seam level as the ones grown in the greenhouse.

You did such good job with multiple branching going on.

I get excited when my paphiopedilums spike because they are all different as seed grown rather than mericlone, then the ones I already know the flower color and shape, some of mine has been blooming looking different each time, so it is always so much fun.

You definitely have a nice looking phal and for $5!!! Who knew, right?

Is the lip kind of magenta colored. I have one this color I got for $ 7.00 not quite as good as yours. It finished blooming and is spiking again. Seems to be a good doer.

I like good doers.

Yours is looking indeed like you are doing something right.
