My first scented moth orchid

This phal surprised me with its fragrance when it was placed in my living room.
At the flower market, I only noticed the beautiful color, and never expected the fragrance because of the quite fair price. Since then, I sniff the flower before buying a moth orchid

That is really gorgeous! Congratulations on finding a scented one! I always sniff the moth orchids in hopes to find a fragrance. I hope I will be lucky, someday, too!

That is very beautiful, by looking at it, it looks like it could have Phalaenopsis violacea in it lineage. That could be where it gets the fragrance from.

The flowers are gorgeous, I can only imagine what the fragrance is like, but I'd consider it buying it for appearance alone.

As Aki mentioned, it probably has some violacea or bellina in the background, both are strongly fragrant. The larger yellows often indicate venosa in the background, which is also fragrant.

Generally, the vendors do not tag phal’s names on the retail markets here, but I’m sure that they have the names on the flasks when re-potting to sphagnum moss in their nurseries. They probably have the names on their growing records. I can’t go back to request for the name, because I forget which vendor I bought from.
Beside the fragrance, the big wide leaf may be an evidence of including violacea or bellina in its parentage as well.

If it smells like cinnamon then it's probably violacea. If it's more citrusy then it's most likely bellina.

Either way it's very pretty.
