Phals spiking (I think)! Female
Default Phals spiking (I think)!

I have 3 different phals pictured, and I think they are all spiking within a few weeks of each other. The last pictured phal, has this growth overnight. It may be a little soon to tell on the third, but I am pretty confident the first two are spikes
I am hoping my Sogo Vivien joins in, when I bought it it was going out of flower. Of my 8 phals I think I have 3 so far with spikes. I must be doing something right this year!

Yep the first two are definitely spikes. The third is a bit too soon to tell, but it's in the right place. Nice job!

Congrats and good growing! Now you only have about 100 days of waiting...

Can I post a pic of mine too? This one's at day 50

Sure you can post a picture! I love seeing others have spikes too! 100 days… really?! WoW that is a long time. I thought it would be more like 30-40 for spike then another 10-20 days for buds.

Third one is a spike too. It's in the right place, and you can see that the thing pushing through has a bit of a wedge shape.

Yes, spikes take a looooong time to grow! Orchids really do teach you patience.

I think 2 & 3 are spikes, as Camille says you can see the shape that is pushing out is wedge like.

I'm not so sure on 1 from the pic, it looks pretty rounded to me, but time will tell

The reason I say 100 days is because of this video. I counted 85 until the first bloom, but the video doesn't start at the very beginning of the spike. Your results may vary
