It is and you can see those changes almost daily...or every couple of days something new happens...because with my chids sometimes I second guess myself and I guess that I am doing something right...

I can't wait to see the flowers!! What color are they supposed to be? And it looks like the spike is branching too, so even more flowers!

Yay!!!! Great growing! I agree with Camille, it looks like it's going to branch as well. Cool!

That bottom growth is a side spike. You're going to have a branched inflorescence. This means more flowers than a single spike.

UPDATE
Hi all,
I thought that I would keep you abreast of the situation...all is well with the phalaenopsis and here are some pics.
BUT some business first.
The first two pics are of something that I noticed on the spike. I think that I caused these from me improperly staking the the spike and the floral tie I used.
I think that the tie cut into the spike and caused minor damage...the first occurrence happened when I first staked the spike near the base and the next occurrence happened yesterday when I realized what I had done when I was adjusting the floral tie.
All of the buds seem healthy. I want to confirm that this is what I had done...I am probably answering my own questions...but I want to be sure. Also, would it be worth my time investing in those cutesy plastic dragonfly, butterfly, and bumble bee clips? I think that they are a little too cute BUT if they will help not damage the plant I am all for it!
The last picture is of the buds and they are bigger I am thinking that I am about two to three weeks away from the first bud opening.

I use those clips and they don't damage the spike so long as you get ones that are appropriate for the thickness of the spike .. I found a bunch of 12 on eBay a while back for a few dollars .. well worth having them .. you can also get the dark green daisy ones that don't take away from your blooms ..
Just type in 'spike clips' in the search and waah-la
