Yep, tis the season. Funny, I only have one Phal left that initiates spikes this time of year. All of my others are either free blooming or summer bloomers. I kind of miss the big hybrid Phals.

Four spikes here! I also had a couple more, but I gave the orchids to some friends of mine that are interested in orchids. I thought that if they could watch the spike grow, the buds come, and finally...the blooms, that they would enjoy the process as much as I do!
All of mine that are spiking are NoIDs, some of which came from Lowes clearance cart so I don't even know what color/size they will be. Maybe I will get lucky and have something interesting when they bloom. Kind of like opening a geode.

seedlings that haven't bloomed can be fun bec you don't really know what the flowers look like till you get one ..
I hope I get one mister lin wants to buy back
you get a clone then the bar has been set and you know what your flower should look like. most of us know that they never do look as good as the photo of the plant it was cloned from. like going into burger king and asking for a whopper that looks just like the one on the menu. it leads to disappointment. sometimes we are surprised. more often not. im always happy with the flowers just not surprised.

I just checked mine today. I have one large hybrid Malibu Merlot in spike, equestris 'B100', and Liu's Cute Angel are also spiking. Some of the summer bloomers have initiated spikes but have stalled because the weather is cooler. There are a couple others that may or may not start spiking.

I have four spiking, and one double spiking already. Temperature change down here did the trick.
