its a wonderful sunset orangy indeed. you want to take a bite out of it yerself...
very deep in its depth of the the color. coloring can be thin and transparent with light behind the flowers. these are very opaque and crystalline textured which lends to the richness of the colors.

maybe I get some better pictures this blooming.. I checked today and woo hoo it has a second spike emerging....You all be sure to let us see yer flowers when they happen.lots happening!!! cold rolling back in today and heh ill have paph season starting now too

big leaf had some of these and they were awarded last year in 2012 ..hausermanns had some also and both of them have sold out of them....both of theirs are awarded and named..mine jus phal surf song

Yes get some more pictures. I have not seen this one, I have seen some with orange tones in some of the stores but not like that one.

I am hoping my husband will get the computer fixed so we can go back to windows 7 as all my pictures are on that one and not on this old one. I can't even upload any from my camera. If he doesn't get it fixed you will not be seeing any of my blooms. Well most will be a good while yet. My Onc Twinkle will be blooming soon and one spike on a Phal. Yes I am hoping to post pic's

I really like Surf Song. Peter can't keep enough in stock. As son as they come in they fly right out!

Yours looks like the first 6 flowers tiled nicely. The last 4 decided to do something different ! Did the pot orientation get changed after the first 6 buds opened?

the off kiltered flowers were from a 2nd spike that bloomed. they didnt have much room and yust wiggled around some huh .. and no doubt the pot got moved around too...so thats lets see 7 out of my herd of 10 phals spiking...2 that arent spikin are pups from the surf song and a phal that got broken when somethin fell on it...they like the little hothouse and are doing well.

That happened to my Malibu Merlot last year RJ. It normally displays it's flowers very well. Last year it put up a branching spike. The main spike flowered as usual, but the branch was too close to the main spike and the flowers opened every which way looking for the light.

I noticed the other day that my Phal. equestris 'Orange' is spiking too. Very happy about that. I nearly lost that one to root rot last year.

its been very cold for them and i hope it doesnt ill affect any buds forming...tuff times this cold and wet is.
lots of sun today and 35 tonite. Im glad I have a cover over mine with a propane heater keeping em somewhat warm with a low of 50. cost is about 8 dollars a day in propane. Some of us are really having a go of it. If you knew all the time what was going to happen it just wouldnt be any fun would it?

I saw a Phal Surf Song at one of the shops I go to for named orchids earlier this year, they have Paphs, Oncidiums and Phals with tags but I passed it up. They are a little more pricey but always have very healthy plants! I have not been buying any more phals until I know I can spike them. (Now I know I can ) If I see it again, it will hop in my cart.
