New rescued phal! Female
Default New rescued phal!

So I volunteer at a hospital. The first day I walked in, I saw this beautiful phal. Upon close inspection, I saw it was swimming in a pot full of water. I quickly did what I had to do and left it to drain...then put it back inside its decorative pot.

Next week, same thing. This time, a few rotted roots were visible. 3rd week, less water but the damage was piling up. Poor thing had gorgeous blooms and trying to grow new roots but the wrong kinda care from whoever was looking after it...was killing it. So last week, I emailed my project director with some new ideas for the pilot project I'm helping with and mentioned the orchid. I directly told him people don't have time for an orchid at a busy hospital but I have some of my own at home and if it's OK with you, may I take it? Which was very bold...I'm really new there. But he said sureee take it next time you're in!

So i brought it home today...cut off about 99% of its roots (all it now has are those new air roots and a couple old ones), as well as some bottom leaves. Good thing the bark is in good condition. Sooo anyway....here she is with some of my other plants (I have 12, 6 are orchids. You can see little bits of 3 of them on the bottom. Sloooowly increasing my brood of orchids ) It came in a purple pot, which I swiched with my yellow-green phal
