Default Some primary hybrids...

So, my Little Sister got repotted during summer, and got so happy that it decided to go for a second spike. Let's just say that I'm not complaining about this decision.

A little premiere bloomer, Phal Cornustris (equestris aurea x cornu-cervi alba) also decided to flower after being repotted. I can't honestly say that I'm that excited about the flowers though... It's a bit pale and colourless in my opinion.

Another premiere bloomer, Phal. Bonita (stuartiana x buyssoniana) is flowering now. One of the flowers look a bit wonky, since it had an unwanted tenant before i discovered it. This little primary hybrid is so cute I think.

I think that Big Leaf Orchids has had Little Sister, but I'm not certain. I know some members from America on Slippertalk has it, so it should be available somewhere at least.

Little Sister is very special, and I'm so glad I bought it. Oh, and the little Bonita is fragrant, I forgot to mention that.

Love that Phal. Bonita (1965). A great combination that shows the best of both parents.

There was another Phal. Bonita registered in 1977. Now that Doritis is merged into Phalaenopsis adding the (year) is the formal way to keep them from being confused.

Very nice bunch but the Bonita is my hands-down favorite, maybe one of the prettiest Phal hybrids I've seen. Good clone and culture to get branching on the first spike, too, that should be an incredible bloomer in a few years' time. Do you have a wider photo of the plant? Mottled foliage and/or clumping growth habit would make this plant even better. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, so that's how you're supposed to keep them separated, I was wondering about that. Thanks.

It's a cutie with a faint, spicy/sweet fragrance.
Unfortunately, it doesn't have a mottled foliage and it has the spindly growth of the doritis... It looks like a little mangrove tree I just realized. It does have, according to me, an interesting, sort of dark olive green
colour on the foliage, with red-ish undersides, and a red keel (?)/stripe down the middle of the leaves. I find the foliage attractive, although I admit it would be even more attractive had it been mottled.

I attached a picture of its sibling that I sold during this summer so you can see the growth habit (spindly). Luckily, the flowers on the one I have left, turned out to be a shade darker, which I'm very happy about.

Thanks for the whole-plant photo, that's a real winner in my book. The lithophytic ex-Doritis species grow more upright than epiphytic Phals but giving them very high light keeps them more compact; in situ they seem to favor exposed rocky habitats. As your plant matures it may develop additional growths ('basal keikis') that can all spike simultaneously. Just my humble opinion, but this would probably look and grow amazing in a wide, shallow bonsai-type pot with mostly inert media like granite chunks, lava rock, etc.

Oh, and your mangrove comment is right on, I find the stilt/prop roots on the former Doritis really interesting and attractive.
