rescue phal! - Orchid Board

Okay this is technically a NOID...But since i got it at lowes I'm shooting for hybrid...it was OUTSIDE IN 100+ degree heat! It was only 2.50 though so I thought what the heck.

I DON T THINK I HAVE EVER BOUGHT A ORCHID FROM A CHAIN AND BE CLEARANCE THIS HEALTHY!!! Its roots were in AMAZING condition no rot, all green and healthy. Just packed to tight in its pot w spaghum. Other than cosmetic issues w its leaves it is very healthy! Who knew this happened?

While I've purchased many vigorous, healthy phals at market/home improvement stores, but my cheapest phal was about $5 at Home Depot.

The plant had one sad, beat up flower left on it and I managed to get the clerk to discount it.

You never know what you may find worthy of rescue at these places and it never hurts to ask.

Thanks I was ecstatic it was on the clearance rack outside in the middle of the place. They actually said they did not have any..I was slightly happy!

I, too, found a clearance phal at my supermarket down to $2. The roots that I could see looked beautiful and decided to go ahead and pick it up. I am so glad I did because there no rot what-so-ever and the grower even put a piece of styrofoam in the middle. I was very impressed and she has taken the least amount of time to bounce back after being repotted and moved to a different home. You never know, sometimes you do find that diamond in the rough.
