this phal's spike been broken 3 times. hail damaged at least twice. survived the most freakish weather outdoors its beyond belief. Phal Surf Song, had it almost a few years. Got new leaf popping out and the caterpillar chewed one is still ever present. Yay had a fat happy wormasuarus chewing on the leafs underside. I noticed it in the light as the giant caterworm had eaten the bottom out and left the top layer of fiber. Light shined thru it. Schmasch!!!
grown in NZ sphagnum moss in a ceramic glazed goblet with lots of bright morning and evening sun 50% shaded. they like it nice and warm with plenty fresh air. fertilized with 25% solution when it needs waterings. I use the bird bath water on them too
.secret to the phals is learning to leave them alone and dont water them until the moss at the bottom is almost dry. If the tops dry thats fine. Its what going to kill your phals is watering it when the top is all thats dry. I Make sure the bottom only leaves my touch cool, not moist before I water is how I have not killed them.
