We can also announce that after it being repotted (with me banging the flowers into my cupboards repeatedly), it has lost one flower, but both spikes are now continuing their growth...

Yup, I have.
I could have lost this guy to brown rot if I hadn't been so lucky. It was shipped to me from England last year, and when I unpacked it, I noticed that one of the leaves was afflicted with brown rot. I removed the infected tissue immediately, sprinkled cinnamon on the cut, and kept my fingers crossed. And as you can see, it's just fine now.
It's one happy plant that you see in the picture.
