It has been quite a while since I posted anything, so I have quite a lot to show off! I'll start with my miniatures. One of these is a real miniature, and the other just has teensy flowers. I bought this parishii along with another one which is currently in bud last spring, and about mid-way through January I found a spike on this one, and about three weeks later I found a spike on the second. The pollinated flower here in the picture did drop within a few days, but the one in flower here looks like the pod has taken, and is now growing happily.
Here are a few pictures I took of my cornu-cervi 'Red' (which could be a fma. chattaladae, but I'll assume it's not and breed with it thinking it isn't). I pollinated this pictured flower, but it has dropped
. Thankfully it has an almost mature bud, plus more coming on that and a new inflorescence.
And a picture with Meirs Penang Princess when it was just opening.
I have finally had the chance to take this Princess Kaiulani 'Chin Yo' in bloom to get some good pictures of it, and I can say I am very happy with the results! I bought this in bloom last September from Crystal Star, and I think the inflorescence it had dried up before producing a second flower. However, a few months ago it started two new inflorescences, but only one of the two new ones actually started growing, while the old one shrivelled. Now I have this second flower pollinated, and a third bud on the way!
Here is one of the stems I received from some great friends and a very generous Patrick last August for my birthday. Soon after receiving it, I thought I was going to be blessed with two spikes, but instead it decided to give me two basal kiekis, which I realised were quite awesome in the long run. As if it knew I was a tad disappointed, a few months later after having it's basal kiekis putting on some weight, it decided to make an inflorescence for me, and now I have two happy buds on this great classic hybrid!
Here it is a week or so ago when the first bud was still opening. You can tell that this will be quite the bushy plant when the kiekis become a mature size.
And here it is today with two buds open.
The label says Meirs Penang Princess 'Rubicon'.
Oh, and here is a picture of Taida Gold Kochdian that I bought at my orchid society this past Sunday. I felt that it had some unique colouring to it, which is what attracted me to it.
