If the cross was made in Taiwan, my guess would be that a lot of these Phal hybrids have names that contain "little sister" because the words "little sister" in Chinese is a cute, affectionate name, and it is also similar sounding with the words "small beauty". The phonetics are exactly the same, the only difference between the word "sister" and "beauty" is the tonality with which they are said. There's a sentimentality about the name "little sister" and it's also kinda a play on words.

Nope, this one was registered by Hager Orchids in 1973, which, from what I could find, is/was a California based nursery.

Thanks guys! There's a reason why I like this primary hybrid so much, it's such a darling.

Aha, yours has beaten mine then, mine only have three flowers opened at the moment. Same here, mine bloomed for the first time last summer, but then it had about 5 flowers I think, now it's going for the same amount as yours this time around.
Where did you get yours from? Mine's from Elsner, got it last spring.

I got it as a large seedling 2 years ago from lepantes on ebay (Popow orchids). And it's nice because there are 2 plants in the pot! I took some photos of it this morning. The blooms are slow to open, I think the 6th has only just opened.

Okay, I'm not jealous... at all...
And yes, mine also seems to take its sweet time opening the pretty flowers, maybe they like to tease?
Hmm... I'm quite skeptic to buying Phals from Popow, since the four I've bought from him, have been in quite sad shape. Was your Little Sister in good shape when you got it?
