I didn't have much in flower over christmas, just buds and spikes. Now those buds and spikes are rewarding me with flowers
This first one is a NoID I picked up for 99p on the discount rack. It has very thick substance to the flowers, the leaves are massive and very strong and it's root system is also massive. One of my most vigorous growing phals. The petals are sometimes more ruffled on the edges than this time.
This NoID was also on the discount rack. Probably also about 99p. It's always been a bit 'weedy' though, floppy leaves, a spike so thin it can't support the flowers. I've had it in lecca (not S/H) for a while and it's finally settled down and has some better roots and less floppy leaves. Still has a very thin flower spike though which I find it best to leave hanging over the side of the pot.
This cutie has flowers the size of a mini but leaves are more like a standard phal (though at the lower end of a smaller phal). I was given this my a distant relative who asked for phal advice then decided she didn't want to keep the two she had and gave me one of them. Last year it flowered for 6 straight months, the same flowers going all that time
This one is a reliable bloomer with roots going every where outside the pot, but not so good in the pot. It's the one I kept longest in S/H before deciding that plain lecca watered in the standard way was better for my phals. The plant seems to have survived the ordeal well though
Finally this one, which had grown a couple of spikes, one with one flower, the other as you see here. It doesn't flower often and grows slowly.
