I know it needs a re-pot--- but every Time something happens when i re-pot I just re-potted my Den noid-I did post a Picture of it a while ago- It always says re-pot when finished flowering and thats what i do-but i guess the den did not like it. I hear ya! When something looks healthy but potting is due, I am reluctant to mess with it. But I tell myself it is better than to wait until it is unhappy and losing roots.
I don't think the 'after blooming' is always appropriate. I try to re-pot when there are new roots growing and this can be at different times, depending on type of orchid. The new ones adapt better to new media and will support the plant if the old ones don't like it.
