Mount Lip open!
Default Mount Lip open!

This is from a local farmer's market from last fall.
It had two spikes with 12 flowers on each spike. It was quite something!

One of the two spikes grew two branching spikes and each of those have 5 buds, one of which opened today.

What a great return for my money!

The last two pictures are from September 2012.
The flowers look almost glowing in person. really nice flowers.

Thank you, Ron!

I bought this in glorious bloom last fall. then it branched out some more and reblooming now.

For some reason, only two of the five branching continued on to making buds. no idea why the other three stopped growing further.

I'm happy with 10 flowers though.

I wonder how one can't be a phal lover!

I like many different plants, but phals look most elegant for home deco. easy, super long lasting, lots to choose from,,,,what's not to love?

I love both NOID and ones with tags. I like them with tags because that makes it easier to refer to them. Say, when you have a bunch of purple or pink ones, instead of calling, "oh, that dark pink one, not so pink one, kind of dark pink one,,,,"

When I see phals in bloom, I always stop and star at them for a while whether I end up buying or not.
If flowers look amazingly nice and in nearly perfect condition AND plant itself look healthy and clean, I bring them home and make space for them.

With that said, I always wish I had a bigger space to fill up with more phals. haha~

Thanks!

Yeah, that waiting period....but it adds to the fun of growing orchids, doesn't it?

I have many phals in bloom at the moment, some coming into bloom, and some still in bud. So much fun to watch those little buds swell up and open to wonderful colors!!!
