I haven't heard about Brooklyn show. lol
There have been some in NJ in the last few weeks, which I didn't go.
There are annual NY Botanical Garden orchid show starting late this month and a small sales setup (not a show) will take place here in Manhattan next week, which I'm thinking of going "just to see", but I'm afraid I'll come home with full hands. :P

Does the glass ball have water at the base and you just add mor as it dries out?
just trying to understand the set up a littl bit.

Hey thx.... Re watering, I tilted the glass globe enough so that the lower rim would allow water to flow out during watering without having to drill holes in the glass and still give the plant a normal sh depth reservoir. So imagine this being an upright container, I would go up from the bottom a bit and drill the holes to allow water to exit the inside. Only here the hole for the water is the actual edge of the container. What you don't see is a clear mesh jus smaller that the hydroton that is fastened to the opening with just enough of an opening to allow the Phal to be planted at the top. Keeps the hydroton inside, the Phal snug in its new home, allows for water to drain out freely while leaving a decent reservoir and I topped it off with some of this plant called baby's tears, which grows like a damn weed and yes, seems to help not so much with humidity but it seems to help well with has exchange for the pot.

I saw quite a few of these hanging globes at Pacific Orchid Expo. The were mostly in booths that were selling Pleuros. I'm not sure how much you are paying for those but check these out Ryan. Hanging Terrariums, Decorative Glass Terrarium, Glass Globes for Plants

I now have two variegated phals growing in glass globes, one gig seedling and a pair of Schill keikis. They love them!

I should also mention that some of my glass use for orchid pots are really quite simple. Though I lost them in a storm, I bought two glass globes that use to go over light bulbs in light fixtures. All I did was put them in an open weaving netting and tada! I had an interesting and very cheap orchid display.

Very interesting and truly beautiful set up!
How do you fasten mesh inside given that this is a glass container?

Just an updated photo. It's grown pretty fast considering it is nearly all white.
