Sogo Vivien variegated

Yes, these plants will sulk due to the low levels of chlorophyll. Sad really because they're so beautiful. My very white phal sulked for a while but she puts out a steady stream of leave now, they just take four times as long to grow. Compared to my gigantea, Vivien grows at glacial speeds! I have a gig growing a new leaf right now and it looks like it takes forever to grow but its already the size of a standard phal leaf and is only half grown. So my Vivien puts on a new leaf too but wow is she slow. All of her roots are white, too, with only a streak of green now and then. She's in her globe now, with even moisture in moss but not soaking wet. She also gets a shot of mega thrive now and then and you can see a noticeable increase in the rate of growth for the plant.

I have never seen these plants in any stores here in Colorado! Like others, I wish they had them! However I do see Vivien like blooms a lot. I love the small size of these plants in general.

I have a Vivien related hybrid growing now... She has six keikis growing with her....all in spike, for a total of 10!

Very lovely indeed (your new Sogo Vivien that is).

I have one of these myself, but it's not a happy camper. I should know better than to buy Phals from the particular vendor in question, since I KNOW the orchids have bad root systems and take ages to establish themselves. I'm considering getting a spare one, in case this one doesn't make it.

Here is its first opened flower. I cut the spike immediately afterwards, since it needs all the energy it can get to grow some roots and some more leaves (it only has two leaves and practically no viable roots...)

Any particular tips re how to care for these ones?

I own two as well. I've got both in bloom but with already compromised roots about 6 months ago. All the known remedies that worked for my other rescues including seaweed and heat mat - don't seem to impress those two. Both have two tiny roots and refuse to grow more roots or leaves. One threw a spike and I thought that the crisis was over, only to discover later that one more root had rotted even though I tried to do anything possible and impossible to monitor the level of moisture.

But I LOVE them! They are so impossibly cute!

What's your approach to keeping moss evenly moist yet not wet? I don't grow in moss but perhaps I could give it a try.
Do you find growing Sogo Vivien in a globe like this makes a difference compare to just a regular pot?

Wow that almost all white one is lovely!!!and it looks happy!! I once had an absolutely pure white Hosta that I discovered working with a locale perennial grower. I loved it so much but I had to pump it full of fertilizer constantly because I was pretty sure it had no way of making food for itself..It got huge and lasted about 3 years..then one spring I think it just ran out of steam and didn't come back....soo sad

I'm not experienced enough to try a variegated phal yet..I need something that can take my abuse.
