Phal (Corning-Ambo x Penang Girl)
This first bloom seedling was a generous gift from a friend while he was out at the big IPA meeting, and I was waiting on our newest family addition. This has turned out really well. Obviously Corning-Ambo dominates in this cross, and that's fine by me. Barely open, and already fragrant. Sorry the picture isn't the best, can't go outside in the cold. But I'm attaching a saturated flash photo, and a more reasonable non-flash photo. It's a really nice deep red color, with some interesting green/white picotee on the petal tips. It's also got dark purple/red freckles on the back of the bloom, common to corningiana. Fairly thick and decent form for a first bloom.
