New branch or keikis on phal ? Male
Default New branch or keikis on phal ?

Have I got 2 new branches or 2 keiki? these have been growing for about 2 weeks or so, this is the only phal that has these, can I re pot this plant even with keikis on it, if thats what they are? I know its going to need a new pot soon or should I just let it be for now

It is too early to tell, but most likely new branching spikes. Time will tell. very soon though!

Unique and lovely colored phal you got there, by the way!

You can repot at your convenience. I think they are branching but even if they are keikis, they won't care.

Looks like it's branching, however sometimes these don't grow much further than this. I've had ones start a side spike but never get much further with them than this.

I feel your pain, Rosie.

It happens a lot to me as well. A few of my phals are growing "side spikes" off the main spikes that had previously bloomed. One of these spikes started three bumps like the ones shown in the first picture of this thread, but then one of them totally stopped there while the other two continued on. (they are now making five buds on each, yay!!!)

It makes me wonder why though. maybe plants decide to save their energy, or they were making backup just in case others get damaged. or the growing condition was not good enough for all of them to develop...who knows?
