Anyone know where to get this phal?
I really like the coloring on this phal Smithsonian Painted Wonder Phalaenopsis Orchid but can't find it for a reasonable price (under $40) online, does anyone know where I could get one?
Thanks!

I can't tell you exactly where to find one (I suspect Norman's might have it.) but I can tell you the new of two Hybrids that look exactly like It. They are Phal (formerly dtps) champion 'lighting" an phal lighting.

I was at Hausermann's today and remember seeing it.
Give them a call. It was in one of the back greenhouses. Ask them to look for it for you....
Dtps Champion Lightning or
Dtps Minho Princess x Dtps Champion Lightning ( is the one I bought from them about 6 months ago, with 2 giant spikes, for $19.99 )

Thank you! I guess I should have specified that Norman's is out of the question for me due to some very bad experiences with them, but I'll give Hausermann's a try!

Yes Orchidsarefun is absolutely correct I have seen this one at Hausermanns too! I love hunting in the back room as well! I've found some amazing phals back there.

Yep, it does look like Champion Lightening.
They sold a whole bunch at Whole Foods and Food Emporium this past year.
I bought two, gave one away for gift (which I shouldn't have because it is a non-stop bloomer!) the other one, a friend of mine took it for her office deco. Now it is out of bloom and I plant to get it back soon like next week.
These are both NOIDs but look very much the same. The difference were leaves and flower shapes. One had flowers that are more round than the other, and non-stop bloomer. This one also had round and very glossy light green leaves while the other one had long and skinny dark leaves with purple edge.
Hausermann does have Champion Lightening. Also you might want to search for Minho Princess "watercolor artist" as that one also has similar coloring just darker red marking with lots of branching on spikes if you prefer that.

So I contacted Hausermann's and they basically told me that they do have it in stock and they would sell it to me but would not take responsibility if the plant turns out to be diseased, since it comes from some other supplier and wasn't grown by them. Basically if it turns out to have a virus I'm screwed. I'm pretty surprised about that. I wrote them back and am waiting for a response and I'll let you guys know what happens.

At least they're being super honest with you! I guess it depends on how badly you want the plant.

What surprising? They cant guarantee it if it didnt come from them. Thats not that hard to believe.
Carter and Holmes might have it but they too might of got it from someone else.
