New Noids! Too Many Noids... Male
Default New Noids! Too Many Noids...

Hi all!! I'm relatively new to the Orchid world but I'm ready to dive right in.
Theres so many interesting and beautiful types of orchids out there but I have to say the Phal still tops my list.

Anyhow...
I found myself with an extra $50 and decided to stop by TJ's and see if they had anything I liked...
I have a thing for mini phals so.. Thats what I ended up with mainly.

If at all possible some clues to the parentage of these plants would be really appreciated.
I haven't figured out how to stick photo's in the threads so each post will cover a flower.

This was the first one to catch my eye.
Its yellow...
With a orange tan.. striped spiral?.. through the center.
With a white and red lip.
And a barest hint of light green at the points on the flowers...
It seems to be more inclined towards blooming only a few flowers at a time... On a side note this is the LARGEST phal I own.. Flower, plant, and spike size.

On an incredible other side note. It's fragrant...
It doesnt smell of anything really... just sweet.
Like there's a vat of simple syrup somewhere in the room.
It makes my whole room smell incredibly sweet.

lol thats what my room looks like. the yellow one with spots i had before (or so it may have been the same one) and it was something like phal brothers golden embers and the yellow one was dtps sogo manager. the little magenta one was dtps queen beer. the other two i have no idea but when i was looking at them at the store they had lips like schilleriana or equestris so maybe they have that in the parentage. mine has mottled leaves though. you could never put a name to them beautiful display nonetheless

This is just a pink blush phal.
I'm a sucker for the standard 3 phals..
The giant white, magenta, and blush.
But I don't have room for them.

This was labeled as a "mini phal".
It's about the size of a normal sized phal. Maybe a little smaller.

The reasons I bought this one....
I liked it..
Its got a very bright even hint of blush.
A beautiful lip...
I was stunned by how beautiful the lip was.
The fact that the white isnt white but a soft cream colour.
Like old silk.

And the adorable cup shaped flowers.
It curves into a beautiful bowl shape.
Combine all that with the long dark stems and the whole thing comes across as very delicate and old world to me.

Anyhow..
I couldnt get clear pictures of this one.
I can't ever figure out why my phone can only take in focus nice pictures some of the time....

This is my green phal.
Yellow green?
It's distinctly green with some hints of yellow.
Its got flowers on the larger side but seems to have a compact enough growth habit and spike...
I'm interested to see what this one does.
Its got a nice display going on but is showing no signs of stopping in the bud production department.
Its got about 15 more buds all in various stages of development and seems to be determined to make more.
The far away picture is crap. But I couldn't have asked for a better up close picture. It captures the colour pretty perfectly and I even got the cute spotting on the lip and the diamond dusting!

This is a mini phal.
The flowers are the size of a nickle.
I'm in love with this plant and if anyone know anything please tell me.

It's one of my smallest phals.
It has a branching habit (it broke off on the way home). The flowers seem to bloom mainly all at once in a giant display.
It has very closely spaced pink flowers with white edging and a dark pink lip.
The very center is spot of bright yellow.
I love this flower. It blooms so profusely in a very small brilliant puffball.
I just..
Anyone know any other phals that bloom in little clouds?
I'm so.. in love..
The total measurement of the puffball is about 5" long 4" deep and wide.
The second closeup is the actual colour of the flower.

This is a post thats going to cover two flowers.
Its essentially the same flower.
Same shape.. Just slightly different sizes and colours.
One is more compact in nature.
Slightly smaller leaves, flowers, and stems. And the flowers are spaced closer together.
The flowers are bright pink with a hint of white.
The lip is bright orange and pink fading to yellow. Sort of reminds me of a sunset actually.

The other flower is essentially the same but in a darker magenta. Its also slightly larger in all regards. The lip is also the same colour but slightly darker in call regards.

These flowers refused to photograph well.
