Default Odd Phalaenopsis

Hello there everyone: I'm pretty foreign to the phallie forum here on the OB -species only grower here - but ...

These two guys came in on a phalaenopsis shipment at work today - and I've never seen phals with flowers like these! I paid $20 a pop after hesitating for a good twenty minutes. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them ... Might give them away as gifts :/

What do you all think? What would cause this coloration? Are they normal?!

I've seen those before, pineridgeorchids.com has some and I've found some on eBay like that. They're lovely, I've been wanting one like the second one for a while. Enjoy!

Thumbs up

I think that they are both awesome! Good find I'd say.

Those are both beautiful! That type of phalaenopsis is quite popular right now. I'm no expert on this but I think the first one would probably be considered a splash-petal type phal. because the pattern looks like splashed paint. The second might be described as splash-petal or maybe a harlequin type because there are a few spots. No matter what you call them, they're very pretty.

Carterandholmes had about 3 different colors earlier this year. I Think I like the buds more than the actual blooms though.

Do they have a name? I can see they have the tag in the pot.

The tags in the pots are mine "Phalaenopsis NOID" I hate having NOID plants - so I had to put some sort of tag in there! Hehe :P

And thanks everyone - now if only I could find a traditional spotted harlequin - I'm a sucker for them!
