Default more flowers or keiki?

Hi everyone,
One of my phals is just about done flowering. I'm been meaning to cut the spike that has no flowers left, but today I noticed a small bud starting to develop where the flower spike splits into two branches. It's either a new spike or a keiki. Once it's a bit bigger, is there a way to know which it's going to be? Or will I just have to be patient with this one?

Camille

Chances are it will be a new spike. That is very common with lots of hybrid Phals.

Wow, that little bud has definately grown since yesterday! And now I noticed that there is a bud starting to develop on the node below. If both of them grow to be spikes, won't they be smaller than if just one develops?
At first I was debating whether or not to let the buds grow, but seeing as the plant developped some nice roots while blooming and is in great shape, maybe I should just leave them and have more flowers!
I know that I'm getting all excited over a bud, but this is my first phal!
