Well, this isn't fully opened, but it is opened enough to be able to see most of its colours, and I am so dang excited to wait until I have the opportunity to get better pictures with the D70. This is probably one of the best purchases from Patrick I've made so far! Just a month or so after I got this reasonably large, spikeless plant, it initiated a spike, and about a week and a half later, it started a second. Now the first flower is about two-thirds open, and I am in LOVE with it!!!!!!! Debating whether to put Kuntrarti Rarashati 'Copperstate' or Kingfisher's Princess pollen on it. . . I'm leaning towards the KP for the first go.

I love the little spots. It will be interesting to see what you get when you create your own hybrid. I have always wanted to try that.

It will definitely be interesting! Yungho Gelb Canary will be especially interesting to breed with because of the micholitzii in the background. Phal. micholitzii is a white species that actually inhibits the expression of colour in its hybrids. After a few generations of breeding away from the micholitzii, you get some amazing colours. My favourite example, and the whole reason I love micholitzii hybrids, is the fabulous hybrid Joy Spring Canary. JSC is a hybrid of Buena Jewel and Yungho Gelb Canary; both parents appear to be pretty much all white, yet because of the distant micholitzii influence, and the colour from the violacea and amboinensis thats also in the background, you get amazing colours and patterns in Joy Spring Canary.

That sounds pretty. Good luck with your breeding. It must be very satisfying to produce your own hybrid, especially if the colours and patterns are so beautiful.
