My 'Baldans Kaleidoscope Golden Treasure' (not sure if it is the same thing as BK or a cultivar of BK) is like that too. I have it in an 8" pot and its roots are already climbing out in escape.

I also have a big pink-blush unnamed phal that is well on its way to great stature, too. The flower spikes are very strong and trying to train them up straight rather than letting them go sideways is a challenge.

I moved a restraining clip from the bottom (those little hair clip thingies) and the next day the stem broke from its own attempt to move the way it wanted. Even now it is trying to spike and it seems to buck against the stake at every point.

I'll have to look at the mounting of orchids. I've never done that. I prefer plastic pots and small bark mix, but I'm always up to experiment.

I bet I can find lots of infomation on this forum for that technique.

I just took a late night (9pm) trip to Lowes and got one of these massive chids too. It's spikes are extremely tall and leaves are gigantoid. I couldn't help myself though.... It has so many health roots...... I have a Phal that is not happy with me bc I butchered its roots when I first got it (I didn't know yellow roots were ok at the time. So sad). Unfortunately, all but 2 blooms are wilting (I assume bloom blast bc aren't they supposed to wilt one-by-one not all at once? Not sure yet still new) and the girl at Lowes said "they" go through and discount whichever plants they decide and she couldn't do it at the register. Poop. But I bought it anyway. Probably would have gotten discounted within a day or two, but I really wanted it.... Lol
Anyway, this is not about me, it's about the mister phals!

Do you know if they will bloom from the same spike again happily or if I should cut all the way?
Any other tips?
Hope mine stays in its pot.

I would take it out of the pot and check that the roots are OK, cut away any dead or dying. Then repot into fresh ( large bark ) mix, wrapping any roots with a thin layer of long-strand sphagnum. I don't presoak my mix. Don't try and stuff any aerial roots into the pot.
Then water once per week, but keep a close watch on the watered weight of the pot. Bigger pots take forever to dry out and you should wait until dry before watering.
Estimate weight pre-water and post-watering. Sounds complicated but easy...
Yep - cut the spike right down.

I can see a ton of roots through the clear pot and they look great. I dug around the moss a little bit to see how the ones toward the center are and they look good too.
Still repot? I repotted my others right away and am regretting it, but I think that's bc I chopped too many good roots. This time around and forward I will not do that.
Buy new moss or use some of the old moss?

If you are happy, then I wouldn't repot. Watch the watering.
Also - something to think about down the line. Phal roots become accustomed to the media. You can change from sphag to bark and vice-versa, its just that it takes a while for the plant to re-establish.

yeah, I just asked on another thread about switching from moss to bark. I know I'll over water if I leave things in moss, but I don't want to kill it by switching from one to another. It will be ok to switch?

Yes, but as I say it may set your plant back a bit.
